Kimberly McGowan, head coach for the Olivet College women’s soccer team, has been selected as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 30 Under 30 Class of 2016-2017. Fifteen men and 15 women were chosen among 350 coaches for the honor.

As captain of the women’s lacrosse team and president of the college’s Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) chapter, Bayne is a mathematics major who gives a whole new meaning to the word “mathlete.”
Tom Hall made his rounds on the wrestling mat in The Cutler Event Center on Jan. 21 in a regular-season dual match with Alma College. A senior 197-pound grappler, Hall, a Fife Lake native, paced the red floor early in the meet -- a step with his right foot, a step with his left. More circling, more pacing. Tick. Tick. He finally snapped, launching forward, before putting his arms around Alma’s Jamie Jakes’ head moments into the first period.
Olivet College Football has made major progress this season with a record of 7-0, winning every game they have played thus far. The last time Olivet College Football had a similar winning record was in 1901 when the team won the MIAA championship.
Science, medicine and tennis weren’t the only components of Kelsey (Singer) Smith’s ’12 collegiate career at Olivet College.
But they were definitely the most important.
“I owe much of my success to my experiences at Olivet College,” Smith said. “Because Olivet was such a small and welcoming school, I was able to become actively involved in both academics and sports."
Andrew DeBruyn has been the Olivet College tennis coach for nearly two years and is about to start his second season. We chatted with him to learn more about the Olivet College tennis program and his coaching style, plus he's got some tips for anyone interested in playing tennis.
This past summer, two Olivet College sports programs traveled thousands of miles from home and entered new territories – both literally and figuratively.
The women’s volleyball team and men’s soccer team decided to try something new and each competed out of the United States. The men went east toward England, while the women went south toward the Grand Cayman Islands.
