Olivet College's Internship Program

Helping students achieve their potential

Sometimes the first step toward your career goals is the perfect internship, and Diane Kirkham can help you get there.

Land your dream job

Internship Program at Olivet College

It’s a fact: Students with two internships under their belt are more likely to land a job straight out of college. And the earlier you start (paging all freshmen!) the better your chances. Getting real world experience is sometimes all you need to help put yourself at the top of the list when applying for jobs.

That’s why Diane Kirkham works so hard to ensure each student who wants an internship, gets one. As internship coordinator for Olivet College, Diane works to connect students with the right position.

All it takes is a quick meeting with Diane for her to learn what your dreams are for the future, and she helps to make it happen. “I listen to what you’re saying, take that little nugget of information, and offer suggestions,” said Diane. “This is exciting for me, to assist our students in taking steps toward their ultimate career goal."

Diane’s methods are threefold:Student Internship Opportunities

1. She spends time educating students on the importance of internships by presenting to classes across campus and sharing her tips.

2. She takes time to network with potential employers, making it easier for her to make a phone call and secure an interview for any student.

3. Meeting individually with students helps her to learn about a student’s career goals, ensuring that the student is taking steps to be prepared for success in their chosen career.

“My goal is to be as creative as possible, working with students, setting up interesting experiences and opportunities. Job shadows, volunteer experiences and internships, paired with the excellent educational experience here at Olivet College help to prepare our students for success.”

“The professors are great here. You can talk to them about anything, basically any time that you need to. They will help you with whatever questions you have and whatever problems you have."
